26th July is celebrated as the kargil Vijay Diwas to honor the lives of the brave Indian soldiers who laid their lives to our nation.
After 1971, this was the first war fought between India and Pakistan
And again the result was same Indian armed forces successfully complete the operation and this operation was ended on 26 july 1999 resulted in loss of life on both the sides.
527 brave soilders from Indian armed forces lost their lives during the war.
After 21 years we are remembering our strong and kind young gentleman solider who lost their life in this operation and permanently remember the unexpected words.
"If death strikes before I prove my blood, I swear I'll kill Death
PVC Capt Manoj Kumar Pandey
(25 June 1975 - 3 July 1999)
- Capt Manoj Kumar Pandey PVC 1/11 Gorkha Rifles.
He was Born on 25 June 1975 in family of Shri Gopi Chand Pandey, Captain Manoj was a brilliant student, sportsman & NCC Cadet. He cleared his NDA exams with top marks. Capt Manoj Kumar Pandey was born in a lower middleclass family and eventually developed his passion towards serving in Indian army. His mother Smt. Mohini Pandey motivated him (with an idea) towards the sense of right and wrong and (interest in religion/belief in a higher power). He had very clear understanding about life. He firmly believed that if you live you be remembered after you are gone. Capt Manoj Kumar Pandey was very proud of his country and he developed a the very best passion towards defense forces, in his SSB interview when senior army officers asked Manoj "why would he join army, while he was good at (related to school and learning) and could easily fetch a job with fancy (money paid for working) - Manoj replied I want to Join the army to earn the PARAM VIR CHAKRA and no company other than Indian army can provide me this.
True to his words, Capt Manoj Kumar Pandey did win the country's highest courage award but unfortunately did not live to receive it in person. After commissioning, his first assignment was in the Kashmir valley and after that he was posted to Siachen. While in Siachen he received orders to move to Batalik part/area, where the first invasions by the Pakistani forces were detected and the Army was preparing for a well-coordinated revenge-related action
The troops under the command of Capt Manoj gained control over six bunkers and killed eleven enemy soldiers besides getting a good stock of arms and bullets including an air defense gun, he was also took/taken (prisoners) by force Khalubar and Capt Manoj Kumar Pandey with his (most powerful/better than anyone or anything else) sacrifice not set an example of (unlike any other thing in the world) bravery but changed the course of Kargil war.
Capt Manoj Kumar Pandey was given the nation's highest courage award, "Param Vir Chakra" for his outstanding courage, leadership and loving loyalty to duty.
